Carin O'Rourke

Carin O’Rourke

MJ, MSW, LCSW, CSAC, ICS

Hi, I’m Carin, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to therapy! I’m a cisgender female (she/her) with nearly 20 years of experience as a social worker and therapist. I earned my MSW from Loyola University Chicago in 2007 with a clinical focus and hold multiple licenses in Wisconsin and Iowa.
I’m passionate about working with adults and seniors who are navigating significant life transitions—changes in relationships, careers, or adapting to chronic illness and loss. I also specialize in supporting those facing mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, burnout, and addiction. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

In our sessions, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Rogerian Therapy to create a supportive, judgment-free space where meaningful growth happens. As a lifelong learner, I’m currently a doctoral candidate at Aurora University, researching discrimination experienced by adults with disabilities through the lens of critical disability theory.

Alongside therapy, I conduct court assessments and evaluations. I also believe in enhancing our work through mindfulness practices and journaling between sessions. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey toward healing and growth.
