Carin O’Rourke
MJ, MSW, LCSW, CSAC, ICS
Hi, I’m Carin, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to therapy! I’m a cisgender female (she/her) with nearly 20 years of experience as a social worker and therapist. I earned my MSW from Loyola University Chicago in 2007 with a focus on clinical work and currently hold several licenses in Wisconsin (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, Independent Clinical Supervisor) as well as a clinical social work license in Iowa.
I am passionate about working with adults and seniors navigating life transitions—changes in relationships, and careers, or adjusting to chronic illness and loss. I also specialize in helping those struggling with mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, burnout, and addiction. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, and I’m proud to be an LGBTQIA+ ally.
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Rogerian Therapy to provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where real growth happens. As a lifelong learner, I’m also a doctoral candidate at Aurora University, researching discrimination experienced by adults with disabilities through the lens of critical disability theory.
I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and will offer you empathetic understanding, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. To enhance our work together, I often encourage mindfulness practices and journaling between sessions.
I look forward to meeting you and walking you toward healing and growth.
